Events center construction bids will open March 28

Bids for construction on a Fergus Falls conference/events center will open March 28, the City Council decided Monday. The $3 million facility, to be built adjacent to the Best Western hotel, is on track for construction when the weather warms up. &uot;It’s a bid opening a long-time coming,&uot; said city councilor Danny Kvenvolden. The city has been working on the center since summer and only recently got the go-ahead to use $1.5 million in state bonding money. On a related note, the city also approved a liquor license for the new owners of the Best Western, Fergus Falls Lodging, LLC. The new license is effective March 1. The hotel owners will operate the new events center and pay for a hotel remodeling project as part of the deal.
