Published 12:00am Wednesday, December 26, 2001Schlotfeld, Jorud Irene Schlotfeld Irene Schlotfeld, 87, of Ashby, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at the Pelican Lake Health Care Center in Ashby. She was born March 17, 1914, in rural Pender, Neb., to John and Mary Ahlers. She grew up and attended school in Belgrade, Neb. On Nov. 19, 1943, she married John F. Schlotfeld in Long Beach, Calif., where he was stationed during World War II. While in Long Beach, she worked for McDonnell-Douglas as a wing riveter on bombers. After his military service in the Army, they returned to Belgrade, Neb., where they farmed. In 1955, they moved to Ashby and began farming. She became a school board member for country School District 1377 and served for many years. She was also on the board of directors for the Gold Seal Corporation. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ashby and the St. Olaf Homemakers. Survivors include her sons, Charles Schlotfeld and Dennis (Susan) Schlotfled, both of Ashby; three grandchildren, Jeffery (Jane) Schlotfeld of Casper, Wyo., Michelle (Jeremy) Leffelman of Cottonwood and Stacy Schlotfeld of Ashby; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Grace Leffelman of Cottonwood; and a brother, Raymond (Lucille) Ahlers of Belgrade, Neb. She was preceded in death by her husband, John on Jan. 22, 1987; three sisters, Helen Wagner, Leona Ahlers and Edna Landers; and four brothers, George, Walter, Johnny and Onno Ahlers. Visitation: Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church, Ashby Clergy: Rev. Carol Olson Burial: Pelican Lake Cemetery, Ashby Funeral Home: Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Ashby Mildred Jorud Mildred Jorud, 89, of rural Battle Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at her home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake, with the Rev. George Dahl officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake and one hour prior to the service.
