He was always there to help with questions on homework, conflicts with student-teacher relationships, problems at home, with friends, work, athletics and even boyfriends ansd girlfriends. He took time to listen &8212; really listen. The kids knew they could talk to him about anything. He was kind, caring and had a love for his job and all the students. He wanted to see them succeed at whatever they wanted to do. When my daughter told me he no longer was at school (after taking a new administrative position at Perham High School), I was heartbroken. He has done a great deal for our family. Scott, I am very glad that my children crossed your path in life. They will always remember your kindness. Deanna Goodman Fergus Falls Falling leaves remind us we are not in control As the leaves begin to turn from green, to red and gold; and technology develops faster than we can learn it, we are reminded, humanity is not really in control of life. When the leaves fall, the bare branches say your winter will also come. Love reaps every form of life … and brings new life out of every form of death…. Maryann Shores Fergus Falls War is more than bombs and bullets The media reporting of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan only gives us one side of the picture. There’s more going on than bombs and bullets. Why has regular Armed Forces recruiting been able to meet or exceed its goals for 13 consecutive months (10,000 per month)? Why has the National Guard met its recruiting goals for nine consecutive months? Remember, these are all volunteers, and they’re probably going to a war zone. The answer is patriotism, not financial rewards. My niece and her husband, both active-duty military, believe that their work is producing a safer world for their future children. The people they interact with daily could be our future enemies&8212;or our future allies. We must stay engaged with these folks until our mission is complete! My niece’s mom is kept up to date on the content of our editorials, and approves. We are proud that Mom has passed her patriotism and Christian values on to the next generation.
