Barsness, Sanderson claim second place in sub-section

ALEXANDRIA — Bryce Barsness and David Sanderson qualified for the Section 8AA tennis tournament Monday by finishing second in North Sub-Section play.

The Fergus duo was able to defeat two doubles teams from Alexandria before losing to Moorhead’s Danny Sam and Erik Hedman 6-2, 6-4.

The Fergus doubles players will play the No. 3 team out of the south Tuesday in Brainerd or Sartell, depending upon the weather.

Dan Mohagen and Wade Underwood won their first doubles match Monday with Detroit Lakes 6-0, 6-0 before losing to Sam and Hedman 6-2, 6-4.

Jarred Erdmann of Moorhead ousted Fergus Falls’ Andrew McAllister and Detroit Lakes’ Ryan Borgeson was a straight set winner over Fergus Falls’ Aaron Mikkelson.
