Let’s keep our lakes healthy

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Otter Tail County is rated one of the nation’s top places to live and boat by “Boating Life” magazine.

It’s important we keep it that way.

With 1,048 lakes – the most within a single county in the country – it’s clear that a good share of the county’s residents live here at least partly because of the ability to enjoy our lakes. With high clarity, healthy fish and waterfowl populations, and excellent public accesses, the quality of our lakes is just as important to residents as the number of them.

It is for this reason why it is important that residents obey the rules to ensure our lakes stay as pristine as they are. If residents follow shoreline regulations, and anglers check boats for aquatic plants, our lakes can continue to be preserved into the distant future.

Our lakes are a source of pride in this area. Let’s keep them that way.
