A 10 x 16 sauna and adjoining outhouse near Deer Creek were completely destroyed by fire around 7 p.m. Thursday. No one was injured. Cause has not been determined at this time. Deer Creek Fire Department and Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.
The sauna was a wooden structure with a steel roof, located on hunting property. The sauna was not occupied at the time, but the property owner had been at the location preparing the sauna for use when the fire was noticed. Damage is estimated at $1,500-$2,000.
Trailer trashed near Vergas:
A trailer house off County Highway 130 near Vergas was vandalized, causing about $500 worth of damage. It was reported to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday.
Softball-size holes were punched in the interior walls and front door. There are suspects, but names will not be released until the investigation is complete.
Cameras taken from locked vehicle:
Two cameras were taken from a locked vehicle on the 600 block of Laurel between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday, Fergus Falls Police said. No description of the cameras or value was available.
Drug rumors at school unfounded:
The Otter Tail County K-9 unit was called to Rothsay High School Thursday on suspicion of drugs, but it was unfounded.
