Bemidji

The following local students were among the 117 graduates of Bemidji State University at the conclusion of the school’s summer session: Anna Domes (Fergus Falls), Lee Hannuksela (Deer Creek), Christina Rethemeier (Perham) and Heather Sjolie (Fergus Falls).

Bethel

Michael Vennerstrom, son of Bob and Ginger Vennerstrom of Fergus Falls, will perform in the 51st Bethel University Festival of Christmas, titled “Light of Light to Earth Descending: Carols of the Nations.” The four performances Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 will feature more than 300 musicians performing in the school’s choirs, wind symphony, orchestra and handbell ensemble.

Concordia

The following Fergus Falls students will perform with the Concordia College Orchestra as it tours the Midwest Oct. 26-Nov. 4: Edward Bjorgum, Karin Koenig and Karl Ronnevik. The group will perform at Fergus Falls Middle School Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

UMD

Mark Vukonich, Underwood, was among 58 first-year medical students who received their first white coats Oct. 6 at the University of Minnesota Medical School–Duluth. Receiving their personal white coats is a rite of passage for students entering medical school. Conducted at medical schools and other health profession colleges across the country, the White Coat Ceremony was created at Columbia University to stress the importance of humanism in the doctor-patient relationship.
