WORTHINGTON — The hard-hitting Minnesota State CTC Lady Spartans won three of four games over the weekend.

Lloyd Danzeisen’s club battled Riverland in their road trip opener at Austin before falling 8-7 in eight frames. The Blue Devils erased a two-run eighth-inning lead by MSCTC with a three-run uprising in the bottom half of the inning.

Cassandra Klimek fanned five in the loss but walked eight.

Backing up Klimek with three hits, two homers and four RBIs was Laura McCarthy. Brittany Quistorff, Nikki Kneisl and Claire Parks all collected two hits.

The Lady Spartans avenged their one-run loss in the nightcap by whipping the Blue Devils 10-6. Quistorff and Heather Nelson both drove in three runs. Nelson tripled and homered. McCarthy had two hits and two ribbies. Kneisl led all hitters with four safeties in five trips to the plate.

Emily Christenson was the winning hurler.

The Lady Spartans trounced Minnesota West 11-1 and 20-10 in a pair of games at Worthington to improve their season mark to 6-2.

Klimek pitched the victory in Game 1 and went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Parks was 3-for-4 with four ribbies.

The Lady Spartans won the second game in five innings behind a 19-hit attack. Kneisl, McCarthy, Quistorff and Klimek combined for 14 hits and 11 RBIs.

The Lady Spartans will travel to Willmar Tuesday for a twinbill with Ridgewater.
