LADA can give lakes new energy
Published 12:00pm Friday, August 1, 2008The economic climate in the Battle Lake and Otter Tail Lake areas could be warm and sunny because of groups like the fledging Lakes Area Development Association (LADA) which was formed by Dan Malmstrom in the Battle Lake area.
These are not easy economic times in the Lakes Region. But when a group of business owners organize in the name of diversifying the economic climate beyond tourism while preserving and enhancing the infrastructure around area lakes, that can be nothing but good news.
“It’s one thing for a community to say it has a committee working on economic development. More impressive is when a community of people rolls up its sleeves and comes up with a tactical plan for economic development,” Malmstrom told members of the Otter Tail Lakes’ Property Owners Association last week.
We couldn’t agree more.
With a strong vision in place, LADA has an opportunity to guide people and economic development activities for the next several years in Battle Lake and the surrounding area.
Here’s wishing the organization and the Lakes Area the greatest of success.
