FERGUS FALLS — The Fergus Falls girls tennis team kicked off a busy week Tuesday with a 6-1 loss to visiting Brainerd.
The Otters’ lone match victory came when Lindsay Kimball defeated Courtney Tusler 6-2 7-5 in a singles match. In other singles action, Ashley Mergens of Fergus Falls was defeated by Taylor Headlee 6-1 6-0; Cristina Masten of Fergus Falls was defeated by Mikinzee Salo 6-1 6-0 and Lizzy Wanek of Fergus Falls was defeated by Sam Kletscher 6-2 2-6 6-1.
In doubles action, Emily Nelson and Zoe Houle of Brainerd defeated Kaylar Neumann and Karla Thole 6-2 6-1; Rylie Fussy and Kylee Kunde defeated the Otters’ Amanda Breen and Susie Schoeneck 6-4 6-3; and Brainerd’s Claire Surma and Katie Southard defeated Katie Schoeneck and Mariah Viaene 6-0 6-2.
“Lindsay was able to control her match by attacking the ball with excellent placement,” said Otters head tennis coach Hal Johnson. “Brainerd played very aggressively at the net, which was a great advantage on such a windy day.”
The girls travel to St. Cloud Tech Thursday and then play a triangular Friday against Thief River Falls and Detroit Lakes at Detroit Lakes.

Parkers Prairie defeats Morris
MORRIS — A sweep of the singles carried Parkers Prairie to a 6-1 victory over Morris Tuesday at the Morris Duals. Alayna Benzinger, Erica Parsons, Brenna Warren, and Katherine Wippler helped the Panthers dominate singles play.
Overall, the team played very well for their first home match of the season,” said Panthers head coach Todd Tumberg. “All of them played an awesome match with the third doubles team just falling short in a tie-breaker.”
Tuesday was the second time the two teams met. In the first meeting of the season, Parkers Prairie won 5-2.
The Pirates are now 5-5 on the season and 0-1 in Prairie Conference play.
Parkers Prairie will host BBE and Long Prairie Thursday in the Parkers Prairie Triangular.
