Richard Enderle, 60
Published 12:00am Thursday, September 11, 2008Richard Allyn “Dick” Enderle, 60, died unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at his Manhattan, N.Y., apartment.
Richard was born Nov. 6, 1947, in Breckenridge, to John and Mary (Aldrich) Enderle. After graduating from Elbow Lake High School, Richard fulfilled a life long dream of attending the University of Minnesota where he was a three-year letter winner in both football and wrestling.
He was a member of the 1967 Gopher football team that won the Big 10 title and was named to the All Big 10 Team in 1968. Drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 1969, he also played for the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers.
In 1989, Richard married Valda Guzowski. He was a master carpenter for National Acoustics in New York.
Richard was proceeded in death by his father, John.
In addition to his wife Valda, Richard is survived by his mother, Mary Lou of Fergus Falls, brothers Stephen (Barb) Enderle of Mankato and Larry (Cheryl) Enderle of Fergus Falls; sisters, Barb (Jeff) Kalvik of Minneapolis, Sharon (Paul) Gaulrapp of Owatonna, Patty (Randy) Kouba of St. Paul, Karen (Don) Stenstrom of Rothay and Linda (Frank) Arnett of Fergus Falls; his dog Clyde; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who will all miss him dearly.
A local memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 702 W. Alcott, in Fergus Falls, with the Rev. David Foss officiating. Guests are welcome to wear their favorite football apparel.
