Missed chances damaging

The recent decision by a film producer to pass on shooting a psychological thriller in the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center in favor of a Twin Cities location demonstrates the need for resolution on the idea of the international business college.

According to developers, the decision on whether the college on the RTC campus would be a go should be made by the first week in November. The council ought to hold the developers to that date. The deadline to use state funds to demolish some parts of the facility is at the end of the year.

Concern is that a film might tarnish the image of the RTC, and threaten other business opportunities, is understandable. However, if the business college falls through, the benefits Fergus Falls missed out on from using the campus for movies would be for naught.

If there is no closure on the business college in one month, then it is the duty of the council to open the facility up for any and all opportunities. Our community just can’t afford to miss such chances.
