Lottery player hits payola

For the second time in a week an Otter Tail County lottery player has struck gold. Gerald Stainbrook of Pelican Rapids won $20,000 after playing the Minnesota State Lottery scratch game, Betty Boop. Stainbrook purchased the ticket at DL Tobacco Inc. in Detroit Lakes and claimed the prize Nov. 7, 2008. The winning comes after 74-year-old Keith Schroeder of Fergus Falls hit the jackpot on Nov. 3, winning a $31,336 prize playing Northstar Cash. n The Fergus Falls Middle School will present it’s annual Variety Show on Tuesday, Nov. 18 and Wednesday, Nov. 19th Acts this year range from singers to dancers to guitar players to jugglers. A

public performance will be Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Center for the Arts.

n Andy Kasten bowled a three-game series of 811 at Northern Aire Lanes. His individual games were 258,278, and 275. Andy was pre-bowling for the First Nighters League which bowls on Monday nights. This is Andy’s second 800 series at Northern Aire Lanes since moving here from Wisconsin. Paul Hermann is the only other bowler to have ever rolled a series of 800 at thew bowling alley.

n We’ve been reminded that National Family Volunteer Day is November 22. This is a perfect event for parents and children who want to volunteer together. It is also a great way to teach children about volunteering and helping their community.
