Published 6:00am Saturday, November 22, 2008Public health sponsors walk-in flu clinic: Otter Tail County Public Health is sponsoring a walk-in flu clinic from 8:03 .m. to noon and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at the Government Services Center, 560 W. Fir Ave., in Fergus Falls.
No appointment is necessary. Cost is $23, however, no person will be denied due to inability to pay.
EOTC 4-H plan member events:
East Otter Tail County 4-H is planning a moonlight bowling event, beginning at 8:45 p.m. today, at Mills Lanes and Lucky Strike Grill in New York Mills.
Cost is $12 for three games and includes shoe rental. The event is open to 4-H’ers and non-4-H’ers.
The EOTC 4-H is also planning a make-n-take project day from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the New York Mills school.
The project day is designed for all youth in kindergarten through sixth grade and adults.
Youth may select four hands-on projects, including fleece hats, kitchen fun, checkerboards, holiday aprons, hot pads, bird feeders and more.
Cost is $7 per person or $20 per family.

LRH Auxiliary donates $5,000 to cancer center:
Through hospital gift shop sales and an annual bake sale, the Lake Region Hospital Auxiliary recently donated $5,000 to the hospital’s foundation for the Cancer Care & Research Center.
Each year the auxiliary supports the work of the hospital, including purchases of equipment for hospital departments, providing financial support for approved patient items, and health care scholarships.
WOTC plans awards program:
The West Otter Tail County 4-H will conduct its awards’ program and annual meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at the Otter Tail Power Community Rooms in Fergus Falls.
On the agenda is presentation of awards and election of officers. Refreshments will be served.

Holiday baking class scheduled:
Get your holiday baking done in one night. Bring containers to fill and take home 12 dozen varieties of treats for your holiday gatherings. A cookie class is scheduled Dec. 2; Cookie and candy classes will be held Dec. 4, 9 and 11. Italian Christmas desserts is scheduled for Nov. 18.

Tax aid volunteers sought:
Volunteers are needed to assist in preparation of 2008 tax returns in the Fergus Falls, Battle Lake, Pelican Rapids and Breckenridge areas, during the next tax season. Otter Tail-Wadena Community Action Council Tax-Aide sponsors the program.
