Red Cross plans bloodmobile Dec. 17:

The American Red Cross will collect blood from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the high school in Pelican Rapids.

With the holidays approaching, family and friends come together to share family traditions and the joy of the season. As you exchange gifts with loved ones, the American Red Cross asks people to remember to share the gift of life through a blood donation.

Eligible donors must be 16 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds.

Live nativity scheduled Dec. 25:

The Fifteenth Annual Live Nativity will take place at 10 a.m. Christmas Day, indoors at the Wadena National Guard Armory.

Area farmers will bring their livestock to the armory to help fill the stable where area residents will portray the Christmas Gospel narrative.

Christmas carols, prayer, and a free will offering to local food shelves will also be a part of the program.

If you want to join in on the nativity there is always extra costumes for shepherds and angels.

Please come before 10 a.m. to be included. Holiday refreshments will follow the hour long program.

Hospice angel tree honors memory:

Lakeland Hospice and Home Care is again sponsoring the Lakeland Hospice Angel Tree throughout the holiday season. A $5 donation will allow a person to hang an angel on the hospice tree in memory of a loved one or friend.

Angels may be purchased through the holiday season at Lakeland Hospice and Home Care located at 120 S. Union in Fergus Falls, or at participating churches throughout the community.

WIC program clinic is daily:

The WIC Program of Otter Tail County holds their clinic at the Government Services Center at 560 West Fir Avenue in Fergus Falls from 8 to 5 p.m. daily. For more information call 218-998-8324.

Dental varnish fluoride treatments for children will also be available at the WIC site through Otter Tail County Public Health. This service is provided for children who are covered under Minnesota Care plans and Medical Assistance. Call Kathy at Otter Tail County Public Health for information or to set up an appointment at 218-385-5500.

Tax aid volunteers sought:

Volunteers are needed to assist in preparation of 2008 tax returns in the Fergus Falls, Battle Lake, Pelican Rapids and Breckenridge areas, during the next tax season. Otter Tail-Wadena Community Action Council Tax-Aide sponsors the program.
