Go back in time with ‘My fair Lady’

Published 6:00am Saturday, January 17, 2009

What’s your favorite song? “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “With a Little Luck?” Or maybe, “Get Me to the Church on Time.” Perhaps it’s “Wouldn’t it be Loverly?”

All of these songs plus about 10 other favorites are from “My Fair Lady,” starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison. This is the film chosen for “An Afternoon at the Movies,” Monday, Jan. 26, at 12:45 p.m. at the Senior Center.

There is no charge and a microwave is available if you wish to pop your own popcorn. What better way to spend a snowy winter afternoon.

Next Tuesday, at 11:45 a.m., in the board room at the Center, you will have an opportunity to become acquainted with the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) which is the newest device that is saving the lives of people who have a heart attack.

Randy Fischer, Ringdahl Ambulance, will conduct this class which is informational only and will not certify anyone in its use.

On the 22nd, January birthdays will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Make a reservation and stay for the spaghetti noon meal afterward.

Community Education will offer the full eight-hour Driver Improvement Class on Thursday and Friday, Jan. 22 and 23 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., at the public library.

Completion of this class allows a ten percent discount on your auto insurance for a three year period if you are a Minnesota resident and 55 years of age or older.

Register and pay the $20 fee in the Community Ed office. Phone 998-0544, Ext. 1600.

A reminder that a special Christmas/New Year’s holiday issue of the Golden Page is available in the senior office. In addition to the contributions of our seniors, this issue contains the writing of one half of the students in our Adopt-a-Cass (Lynette Ringquist’s third graders at Cleveland).

Writing of the other half of the students will appear in the January issue of the Golden Page.

The Senior Center will be closed on Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

There will, however, be a noon meal featuring chicken strips on that day. Please remember to make a reservation in advance.
