JC’s keeps the pantry stocked
Published 11:03am Tuesday, March 24, 2009Trevor Schlosser doesn’t mind traveling each day between Ashby and Dalton. That’s because he enjoys interaction with employees and customers at his JC’s Grocery stores. His business has been operating in Dalton since 2004 and at Ashby since 2007.
“I have good employees, and we appreciate the people who come in and make purchases in both Ashby and Dalton,” Schlosser said.
He’s a native of Miltona, north of Alexandria. Schlosser began his career in the grocery business in 1990 as a stocker at Pete’s Country Market in Alexandria. Fourteen years later he purchased the Dalton business from David Schroeder.
In Dalton, he leases building space to Farmers State Bank. In Ashby, Schlosser leases space to realtor Donna Grover and to Brenda Jones who operates Beauty by Brenda.
“I’ve got eight good employees at JC’s in Ashby and three who work for me at JC’s in Dalton,” he said. “Customer service is what we’re all about.”
The sign on the west wall at JC’s in Ashby gives customers an insight as to what’s inside. The promotion includes fresh meat, produce, water refills and services such as lottery tickets and balloons.
“It was a new venture for me when I opened our meat shop in the southwest corner of our building in Ashby,” Schlosser said. “We’re pleased with the addition.”
A quick look inside the meat shop reveals several offerings for customers. They include steaks, chops, beef loin, chicken breasts, roasts and pork loins, to name a few.
His wife, Christa, is a Dalton native. She works as a milk procurement employee at Bongaards at Perham. The couple have two children, Jacey, 8, and Cailey, 5.
“We enjoy the people in the Ashby and Dalton area. This is where we want to live and where we’re happy our kids can attend school,” Schlosser said. “I’m proud to have JC’s operating in both Ashby and Dalton.”
