Published 12:00pm Thursday, May 28, 2009A bid was awarded to Grant’s Mechanical for the boiler and chiller project at the Roosevelt Education Center. The system will serve both the Roosevelt Education Center and the Kennedy Secondary School. The bid was awarded in the amount of $794,598.
A bid for asbestos removal at the Roosevelt Education Center was awarded to MAAC, Inc. for $18,960.
The district acknowledged the retirement of Chuck Vigen, who was taught as a science teacher in the district for the past 18 years.
A leave of absence request from Vicki Saurer for the 2009-10 school year was approved by the board.
The 15 teachers who were notified they were to be placed on unrequested leave of absence (ULA) were officially placed on ULA for the 2009-10 school year. After being notified of their placement, teachers had the opportunity to request a hearing. No hearings were requested and no changes to the list were made. Superintendent Jerry Ness said a number of teachers will be hired back with federal stimulus dollars and through other grant opportunities.
