Donations help fund local Hospice program

I am writing in response to the submitted article that ran last Monday, June 29, about the Lakeland Hospice Motorcycle Ride to be held on Saturday, Sept. 12.

In the article it was written that it is free to participate in the ride. However, we ask that participants make a Free Will Donation, meaning we ask people to be as generous as possible for the ride as it is one of our main annual fund raisers for the Lakeland Hospice Foundation.

The monies that are brought in go towards patient care for people facing life-limiting illnesses and their families and loved ones.

Many people don’t know that we are there for patients regardless of ability to pay, and while Medicare and Medicaid and many insurance providers do cover many costs of hospice care there are expenses that are necessary that may not be covered.

We depend on our foundation to continue our quality healthcare in our fifteen-county service area. We also follow the families of our patients for up to 13 months after a patient passes on with our bereavement services, something not every hospice agency is able to do.

We look forward to another great ride this fall and welcome all to our new office parking lot at 1505 Pebble Lake Road for the start! For more information go to www.hospice-ride.com
