Brad and Melissa Pribbenow have lived in five different cities during thier 15-year marriage. They’re now officially at home in Fergus Falls.

“When we walked into this home, Brad said, “Where do we sign?” Melissa recalled. “We knew this was the one.”

The Pribbenows used USDA Rural Development’s direct 502 home loan program to purchase their home. The 502 program finances home loans for low and very low income individuals and families in rural communities. Applicants must demonstrate repayment ability and meet credit qualifications. An interest subsidy is avaliable to make payments affordable.

The family was recognized by Rural Development officials and staff from Rep. Collin Peterson’s office during a June Homeownership Month event at their home on Wednesday.

The Pribbenows have four children: Emily, 12, Elias, 9, Elliot, 5 and Elsie 3. Brad is a minister at a Fergus Falls Lutheran church and the Rural Development program helped the family purchase a home that met their needs.

“It’s got all kinds of little nooks and crannies,” Melissa said. “It’s really perfect for us.”

The back yard is big enough to accomodate all four active children while still giving mom and dad the space and privacy they need. In other words, it’s just what the family needed.

“We’ve got great neighbors and we couldn’t be more thankful,” Brad said. “It’s just great.”
