Employees with the Otter Tail Valley Railroad say someone stole a flag used to alert trains of work on tracks.

The flag, located near the Union Avenue crossing, marked a derailer placed on a track for the safety of nearby workers, according to Fergus Falls police. The tube steel flag, reported stolen around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, was later located in the Otter Tail River.
