PILLAGER — Spurred by a monster first quarter, the Otter Tail Central football team rolled past Pillager 49-14 Friday evening.

Shane Winkler scored two of his team-high three touchdowns in the first quarter as the Bulldogs (3-3) raced out to a 21-0 lead.

Winkler finished with 178 rushing yards on 23 attempts, finding the end zone from 4, 2 and 32 yards out.

Dustin Klever and Tyler Olson added a pair of touchdowns each as the Bulldogs led by 20 points at the break.

“We controlled the ball for most of the game,” OTC coach Don Seipkes said. “We established things right away.”

Sophomore quarterback Dusty Charest added 154 yards through the air, connecting with Klever for a 22-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter for his only TD pass.

Breckenridge 28, Pelican Rapids 7

BRECKENRIDGE — Stephen Erlandson sliced through the Vikings defense for 226 rushing yards and the Cowboys scored a critical defensive touchdown in this Heart O’ Lakes Conference matchup.

Erlandson also scored three touchdowns as Breckenridge (4-2) mounted a 18-0 lead.

“He’s just fast,” Pelican Rapids coach Dave Haugen said of Erlandson. “He doesn’t need much room to get going. When he gets that seam, he’s gone.”

Erlandson — who scored on runs of 9, 87 and 37 yards — didn’t do it all, however.

With Pelican (1-5) driving late in the second quarter, the Cowboys’ defense jarred the ball loose. A Breckenridge defender scooped it off the snowy grass and took it into the end zone from 63 yards out, reaching paydirt with 16 seconds on the clock.

“That one really hurt,” Haugen said. “It looked like we were going to score right before the half or at the very least be trailing by only six. That touchdown changed the whole complexion of the game.”

The Vikings made a game of it midway through the fourth quarter, drawing within a couple touchdowns when Alex Klovstad dashed through the Breckenridge defense from 25 yards out.

Klovstad led the Vikings with 103 rushing yards on 21 attempts. Brady Morgan chipped in with 63 yards on 18 carries.

Breckenridge has won four games in a row after starting the season 0-2.

Perham 43, Roseau 8

PERHAM — The Yellowjackets took out any frustrations it had after dropping its first game of the season last week on the Rams.

As usual, dynamic signal-caller Ben Bucholz led the Perham offense, accounting for four touchdowns before sitting out the fourth quarter with the ‘Jackets comfortably ahead.

The 6-foor-6 quarterback collected a pair of 1-yard touchdowns runs while connecting on TD passes of 2 and 52 yards.

In all, Bucholz threw for 268 yards and ran for another 86.

Perham buried the Rams in the first half, generating a 25-0 lead at the break.
