Volleyball: Underwood 3, Hillcrest 0
Published 12:00am Wednesday, October 14, 2009The Rockets made quick work of Central Lakes Conference opponent Hillcrest Tuesday night in Fergus (25-18, 25-8, 25-19).
Playing without starting setter Hannah Rocholl thanks to the flu, the Rockets turned to Carly Masloski and Courtney Meder to fill the void, and they did just that.
Masloski finished the night with 12 assists and two ace blocks, while Meder had eight assists and six digs.
“Carly and Courtney stepped in and did a super job for us tonight,” Rockets’ coach Diane Ross said.
Aann Bjorklund lead the Rockets in kills with 11, while Alex Floersch had a team best 17 digs.
“We didn’t play to the best of our abilities tonight,” Comets’ coach Carrie Brue said. “We struggled with picking up the attacks that Underwood gave us.”
The Rockets (11-7-1) host the 26th Annual Underwood Invite on Thursday, while the Comets (3-12) travel to Herman next Monday to wrap up their regular season against Chokio-Alberta/Herman-Norcross.
