UNDERWOOD — Anne Bjorklund needed 15 points to reach 1,000 career points.

Well, she got her 15 — and a few more.

With roughly four minutes remaining in the first half against Hillcrest Tuesday night, the senior forward canned two free throws, giving her exactly 1,000 career points.

The Rockets went on to win 50-26 for their first Little Eight Conference victory of the season.

Bjorklund, naturally, led the way with 20 points while teammates Ellen Ferry and Carly Masloski chipped in with 14 and 10, respectively.

Underwood, which is off to a 3-0 start, was led in rebounds by Ferry with 10 and assists by Masloski with six.

Ahna Lacey led the Comets with seven points.

Underwood went 21-for-47 from the field, three of which came from beyond the arc.

Hillcrest, which shot just 9 of 36 from the field and 7 of 17 from the line, scored just 12 points in the final 18 minutes.

Brandon-Evansville 53, Ashby 43

EVANSVILLE — A sloppy offensive performance was too much for the Arrows to overcome against the talented Chargers.

Ashby — which turned the ball over 27 times — was led by Amanda Johnson’s 13 points and seven rebounds. Senior Kelly Falk added eight points and six rebounds.

Megan Strese led the way for the Chargers with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Megan Boesl added 15 points and four assists.
