Robbery falsely reported
Published 1:21pm Tuesday, December 15, 2009A robbery reported to Fergus Falls police Friday did not occur, authorities say. Instead it appears the woman who reported the incident was the victim of an assault.
The woman had notified police Friday of a robbery she said took place along the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue Thursday evening. She told authorities she was looking for money she dropped near her vehicle when an unknown suspect hit her in the face, causing her to black out. She sustained bruises and a cut to her lip.
Police said Tuesday the woman was not robbed. The incident is being investigated as an assault in which the suspect was known to the victim.
