Boys basketball roundup: Knights trounce Arrows

BARRETT — A close game turned lop-sided as the West Central boys basketball team surged past Ashby 76-34 to pick up a non-conference victory Tuesday evening.

After falling behind 37-24 at the break, the Arrows pulled within five at 37-32 with an 8-0 run to start the second half.

From that point on, it was all Knights.

West Central scored the game’s next 36 points and finished on a 39-2 spurt.

The lethal WCA starting line-up was at it again, led by Sam Richards’ 23 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Colton Blascyk added 15 points and Beau Kashmark chipped in with 11.

Jordan Lillemoen led the Arrows with seven points while post Riley Mickelson added six points and a team-best 11 rebounds.

The Knights, who shot 40 percent from the field, finished with a 51-35 rebounding edge.

C-G-B 60, Battle Lake 48

CLINTON — A slow start by the made the difference as the Battlers dropped a non-conference game on the road.

The Wolverines, who have just one loss on the season, started the game on an 11-0 run and did not trail the entire 36 minutes.

The Battlers (5-6) — who drew within two points midway through the second half — were led by Jake and Alex Ukkelberg’s 13 points apiece.

Zach McNally led Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley (11-1) with 26 points.
