The Fergus Falls swimming and diving team completed a perfect run through the regular season with a 101-82 victory over Central Lakes Conference foe St. Cloud Tech Thursday evening.
“We just swam a great meet,” Fergus Falls coach Tom Uvaas said. “The kids realized what was on the line and stepped up to the challenge.”
The next stop for the Otters (11-0) in the Central Lakes Conference championships next Thursday in St. Cloud.
Mike Hurley broke his own pool record in the 100-yard backstroke by 1/100th of a second with a time of :54.41.
The Otters took home the top three places in diving (Kyle Rust, Mike Aasness and Reid Magnuson) for the first time since Uvaas can remember.
Wear pink to support CVC, Otters:
Fans attending the nest Fergus Falls girls basketball home game against Rocoru Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. are encouraged to wear pink in support of Coaches versus Cancer.
According to the foundations official Web Site, Coaches vs. Cancer is “a joint effort by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches that empowers basketball coaches, their teams and communities to help win the fight against cancer.”
Rader to play college football:
Standout receiver/defensive back Will Rader of Fergus Falls High School has signed to play football for Jamestown College next season.
Jamestown plays in the Dakota Athletic Conference of the NAIA, an association of schools not affiliated with the NCAA.
The Jimmies finished third place last season with a 5-3 league record. The DAC includes Dickinson State, Minot State, Black Hills State, South Dakota Mines, Valley City State, Dakota State and Mayville State.
Vikings college league victory:
PELICAN RAPIDS— The Pelican Rapids boys basketball team snapped a three-game slide with a comfortable 67- 54 win over Lake Park-Audubon in a Heart O’Lakes Conference game Thursday night.
Taylor Budke netted 21 points and dished out three assists for the Vikings while junior captain Dan Wood had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Luke Halbakken added 13 points and nine boards.
The Vikings (8-7) dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Raiders 38-17.
