Skateboard park size not yet decided
Published 7:36am Tuesday, February 9, 2010The Fergus Falls School Board tabled a decision Monday to award bids for the construction of the new skate park.
The skate park was taken down during the district’s secondary school building project. A decision was previously made by the school district and the Fergus Falls City Council to relocate the skateboard facility to Roosevelt Park.
While the school board and the city council had agreed that the space designated for the skateboard park would span 100 feet by 200 feet, the Fergus Falls Parks Board is recommending the size be cut back.
The recommended size would stretch 100 feet by 100 feet.
The recommendation will appear before the city council at its Tuesday, Feb. 16 meeting. After a decision is made by the council, the district will go ahead with the bid awarding process.
“We don’t know what the city wants to do,” said business manager Mark Masten.
Masten said it simply doesn’t make sense to awards bids on a project that can be significantly altered in the next week.
