Registered sex offender caught

A registered sex offender who cut off his ankle bracelet was caught in Pelican Rapids on Tuesday night.

Earlier in the day on Tuesday, Robert Baca, a registered sex offender living in Becker County, cut off his ankle bracelet and fled to parts unknown.

The Becker County Sheriff’s Office notified several area police departments that Baca could be headed their way and asked the departments to search their communities.

At around 7 p.m., Pelican Rapids police found Baca at a downtown business.

He was taken into custody and transported back to Becker County.
