Tuel 1st alternate for MGA

Michael Tuel, representing Pebble Lake Golf Course, fired a 71 to tie for fifth place in a qualifying event for the 107th MGA Amateur Championship Thursday at Detroit Country Club south of Detroit Lakes. His score was good enough to qualify him as the first alternate for the state’s amateur championship, which will be held July 19-21 at Dacotah Ridge G.C. in Morton.

Also playing Thursday at D.C.C., but not qualifying for the MGA Championship were Trevor Gervais, who tied for eighth (73), and Brian Shuck, who tied for 22nd (79).
