RTC project moves forward
Published 3:54pm Thursday, July 8, 2010Two parcels of property at the site of the Regional Treatment Center are moving forward for development.
Kent Mattson, a consultant to the city of Fergus Falls on the RTC property, updated the council on city negotiations with Campus Development Group (CDG), a property holding company, to sell the group two parcels of property at the RTC site. The group was originally interested in purchasing three different parcels, but, for economic reasons and other concerns, plans have been scaled back. Under the parcel designations of the property as laid out in the property’s new plat, CDG is now primarily interested in purchasing Parcel A (currently containing an old nurses’ cottage) and Parcel B (currently containing multiple buildings formerly used for various purposes).
Due to negotiations and the simplified, recently-approved plat, the city and CDG are ready to begin taking steps to close on the property. As for much of the rest of the property, Mattson and other city officials said that the city may want to begin assessing which buildings should be slated for demolition.
On Parcels A and B, the primary demolition will be of old tunnels underneath the buildings. CDG plans to develop the building on Parcel A into townhomes. It also wants to build more residential buildings on the parcel. On Parcel B, CDG plans to install office and retail space.
