Senior Center is a place to connect

Published 11:40am Tuesday, August 31, 2010 Updated 11:53am Tuesday, August 31, 2010

“Your Place to Connect.” That is the theme this year for “Senior Center Month,” which begins on Sept. 1.  Opportunities abound for things to do at the Fergus Falls Senior Center and throughout the month, we will cover three or four in this column each week.
It is also suggested that each member bring someone new to the center, take time to show them around and invite them to lunch.
We have our own group of Red Hat gals at the Senior Center too. Their activity for this month is a visit to the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center (PWLC).
They will meet in the parking lot of PWLC at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2. After touring the Learning Center both inside and outside, they’ll be off to Putter’s Inn at Pebble Lake Golf Course for lunch.
And if the weather cooperates, it will probably be lunch on the deck!
John Armstrong will be at the Senior Center on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. for ear wax checking and cleaning of hearing aids. Call 736-6842 for an appointment.
If you have a legal question pertaining to wills, trusts, estate planning or even some other matter, be sure to make an appointment for a free consultation (736-6842).
Attorney Jfason Hastings will be at the Center on Wednesday, September 22.
We are grateful to the Ottto Bremer Foudation for funding in the amount of $5,400 over the next three years for the Senior Companion Program. This marks the second year of the grant which helps us to fulfill our mission of promoting the independent lifestyle of senior citizens.

Dolores Saurer is a member of the Fergus Falls Senior Citizens Center program.
