Thoughts of September bring thoughts of Fall [UPDATED]

Thoughts of September bring thoughts of Fall and what better time to start a Walking Program? Beginning on Wednesday, September 13 and continuing through October 6, Kim Shea and Diane Scott will be leading a walking group. Participants will meet at 8:45 a.m. for a warm up at the Senior Center on Mondays and Wednesdays, after which they will sally forth through various locations around town. Walking has long been considered one of the best all-around exercises to promote wellness. An added plus, of course, is the socializiing that occurs and the friendships that grow as you participate in this activity together.

We need at least eight people to hold the class so call your friends and we can all enjoy the beatutiful fall weather together and as a bonus shape up physically as well.

One of the first things most seniors learn when they get their first computer is how to e-mail. It’s so fun to keep in touch with others and exchange little stories. But now perhaps you are ready to branch out and get acquainted with the internet, look up things and get the answers to questions you may have about almost anything.

On Wednesday, Sejptember 15, at 1:00 p.m., Mary Jane Hay from the Area Agency on Aging will be teaching participants how to use tthe internet, opening doors to a wealth of information. Please register in the Senior office by Monday, September 13. Better hurry as class size is limited. Call 736-6842.

Be sure to circle September 20 on your calendar. Our Fall Fund-raiser this year is a spactacular Spaghett Feed from 3:30 – 7:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door only, at a cost of $6.00 for adults and $2.00 for children under age 10. All proceeds will go into the Senior Center Activity Fund.

Tomorrow is Labor Day. In observance of the holiday, the Senior Center will be closed and there will be no noon meal.

I found this little quotation the other day and thought it worthy to pass along: “It’s not the years in your life that you count. Rather, it’s the life in your years.”
