Arts fundraiser the ‘talk of the town’Published 10:23am Thursday, September 30, 2010 Updated 10:24am Thursday, September 30, 2010
Everyone is invited to this year’s annual Talk of the Town fundraising event for A Center for the Arts scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at the Bigwood Event Center in Fergus Falls.
The Talk of the Town extravaganza will include a social hour, an opportunity to buy fabulous art priced at only $99, a one-of-a-kind art auction, a sit-down dinner, a one-act play and coffee with dessert.
Saturday evening includes a second chance to purchase great art pieces, hear local entertainment and have some tasty treats from 5 to 7 p.m. at two downtown restaurants.
“This year we’re adding ‘Second Chance Saturday’ the evening of Oct. 9 in downtown Fergus Falls at The Spot and Cafe 116,” said Rebecca Petersen, executive director for A Center for the Arts. “If you’re not familiar with the center, this would be the perfect opportunity to get introduced to our organization and all it offers to our community.”
Tickets are on sale now in the lobby of the Fergus Theatre, home of AC4TA (A Center for the Arts), 124 West Lincoln Avenue in downtown Fergus Falls. Friday evening tickets are $100 (remember, says Petersen, that this is a fundraiser), and tickets for Saturday evening are only $20.
The Friday evening event at the Bigwood Event Center starts at 6 p.m. with a social hour that includes an open bar and appetizers, along with access to purchase the fabulous art. At 7 p.m., Cary Aasness will preside over a live auction featuring one-of-a-kind art pieces, including a Jeff Zachmann sculpture.
Dinner starts with butternut squash bisque and garden salad, then features sliced pork loin with cranberry balsamic glaze, harvest vegetables and roasted herb red potatoes. After dinner, enjoy AC4TA’s new theatre group present “Box Office,” a hilarious one-act play about a community theatre.
At the end of the evening, wind down with Stumbeano’s coffee and dessert. Plus, there will be some surprise guests dropping by throughout the evening.
Saturday evening, starting at 5 p.m. at The Spot (220 West Lincoln Avenue) and Cafe 116 (116 South Union Avenue) in downtown Fergus Falls provides a second chance to get in on the fun, buy some art, enjoy local entertainment (David Stoddard at Cafe 116, Anthony Miltich at The Spot), indulge in some treats, and support A Center for the Arts.
