An Erhard man is headed to prison for six years and two months after a search warrant revealed more than 50 grams of methamphetamine at his home.

Curtis Errol Nelson, 43, received his sentence on Monday for first degree possession of 25 grams or more of methamphetamine. He was also charged with first and fifth degree sale of meth charges, as well as possessing a pistol after being convicted of a violent crime, but those charges were dismissed.

In addition to his prison term, Nelson was fined 250. The sentence was handed down by District Court Judge Barbara Hanson.

According to the criminal complaint, the West Central Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on May 17 at Nelson’s residence of 19713 County Highway 24. When task force agents, sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Fergus Falls Police Department arrived on the scene, they found Nelson and several other men, two of whom admitted to receiving meth from Nelson.

A search of Nelson’s residence yielded meth hidden in various places around both his home and the camper of another man on the property, including in some kitchen cupboards and some that had been hastily thrown in a garbage can as officers arrived. The mother lode, however, was found inside a hollowed-out plastic baseball hidden underneath a toilet plunger in one of Nelson’s bathroom. Over 50 grams of meth were found inside the baseball.

The complaint stated that Nelson admitted to selling meth to keep afloat financially. His wallet was confiscated at the time of his arrest, and officers found over $2,000 in cash inside.

Daily Journal staff really need to use Spellcheck! As a sign of respect Honorable or Judge should be in front of Judge Barbara Hanson’s name. Guess maybe a degree in Journalism isn’t needed anymore?

It’s ironic that Chevy is giving DogLover the business for giving the Daily Journal the business about their journalistic integrity-when Chevy himself has given the daily journal the “business.”
