A North Dakota man was not injured Wednesday after his truck caught fire as he was driving on Interstate Highway 94 near Ashby.

Nolan Wintermeyer, 31, of Mandan, N.D., was driving his semi-truck on I-94 near mile marker 73 at about 8:45 p.m. when his truck’s right brake drum overheated and caught fire, burning his tires.

The Minnesota State patrol quickly responded and extricated Wintermeyer from his vehicle. The Ashby Fire Department was on hand to put out the fire.

The truck, which was loaded with recycled paper, was towed from the scene.

Why and how was he extricated from his vehicle? Nothing said if the Truck rolled over or anything. Did he pass out? Was this a personal truck or Big rig?
