Man identified in Big Chief robberyPublished 11:15am Thursday, March 31, 2011
The sheriff’s office has released the name of the man who robbed the Big Chief gas station at gunpoint in Fergus Falls on Monday night.
The man, Noah Alan Moen, 27, of Fergus Falls, later killed himself in his vehicle on 140th Street, off of State Highway 59 south of Interstate Highway 94. Sheriff’s deputies found the man in his vehicle along the roadway on Tuesday morning, after a passerby called in the man’s car.
Moen did not steal any money from the Big Chief convenience store when he came in at 11:15 p.m. on Monday.
“The individual filled up with some gas … and (he took) a six pack of alcohol and cigarettes,” said Chief Deputy Stacey Paulseth.
Big Chief owner Ray Rogers, who was notified of the robbery on Monday night, expressed his sympathies for Moen.
“The whole thing is pretty tragic, is all I can say,” he said. “I feel bad for his family.”
“The sheriff’s department will be grieving with the family that has lost a family member, as we would be with any tragic situation we respond to,” said Lieutenant Matthew McGuire.Tags: robbery
