The FF McDonalds and Viking Café teams joined forces as the FF Maroon team for District 15 Mite Jamboree in Breezy Point and Crosby MN this last weekend.

Saturday in the first game of the day, they faced Wadena and came away with their first win of the season. Noah Tarczon opened the scoring with an assist to Luke Opatz. One minute later Gavin Lindberg scored on a breakaway that was started by Owenn Hegseth. The first period scoring was finished by Noah with assists to Jacob Opatz and Hegseth. Second period scoring continued with Ian Stumbo assisted by Lindberg, Chance Fazio all alone, Gavin Lindberg getting his hat trick with assists going to Isaac Young on each and Andrew Johnson. Third period scoring came from Young by Luke Opatz and Lindberg and Fazio from Tarczon and Young. Hayden Shol was in nets with 4 saves as the Maroon defense was stingy in shots allowed. Final score was 9-3.

The second game saw the boys take on one of the Little Falls teams. Gavin Lindberg scored both goals for the Maroon with assists from Hegseth and Shol. Isaac Young took his turn in nets with 9 saves in a 6-2 loss to the Flyers.

Sunday’s game was a match-up with the host Pequot Lakes team. This was a very good match up and we saw a lot of up and down play with solid defense on both sides. Noah Tarczon opened the scoring with an assist from Burke Cichosz. Noah then followed up this with his second of the game with Maveric Kalenberg and Luke Opatz with the assists. Lindberg finished the scoring with 2 goals for the Maroon assisted by Cichosz, Kalenberg and Young 2 times.

The game went right to the buzzer with the home team scoring the tying goal on mad scramble with 14 seconds left.

Ethan Sillerud played in goal and was rock solid with 13 saves in the 4-4 tie.

The tournament finished with each kid receiving a trophy and a weekend of fun hockey.
