New potential gun law is stupid

I’m a past avid hunter, 73 years old, and believe in the right to bear arms. This new gun law they are attempting to pass in the state legislature is stupid legislation. It is the most ridicules one I’ve ever seen.

Point of Example: As a 13-year-old, three of my buddies and I raided a farmer’s watermelon patch and were shot at with an old salt pellet gun. We received a couple of burns on our back and legs, thereby learning our lesson.

As kids, raiding an apple tree, this could result in their “justifiable death” under this new legislation. I would now be dead, not able to write this letter and it would be justified under this new law.

Don’t our legislators realize the potential for innocent neighbors, family and pranksters getting killed for just being on someone’s property? We have enough goofy people out there running in the woods during hunting season, let alone providing ammo to amateurs who panic with the slightest sound, or use any excuse to justify their actions.

Our state legislators need to start using common sense rather than trying to win points for the next election. I certainly won’t be voting for anyone who supports this type of irresponsibility.
