Little Falls strikes first, but Otters rally to 5-3 win
LITTLE FALLS — The Otters were able to overcome a 3-0 first inning deficit to win a big Central Lakes Conference game against Little Falls 5-3 Thursday afternoon.
The Flyers Matt Valentine put the home team on the board first with a 3-run homer off of Fergus pitcher Cody Lehmann. That would be the only threat Little Falls would mount against the Otters as Mark Aho’s crew rallied with a go ahead RBI single by Trent Toso in the sixth.
“It was a great baseball game all around,” said Aho. “Give the boys credit, they had every reason to hang their heads, but they kept fighting and got the win.”
Lehmann picked up the win going five innings with 5 strikeouts. Derick Viger picked up the save for Fergus finishing out the remainder of the game.
Luke Heck led the Otter hitters going 2 for 2 with 2 RBI, while brother Nick crushed the ball for a solo shot.
The Otters will travel to Detroit Lakes Friday as they finish out their road schedule in a 5 p.m. game.
