Should advocate for Hoffman abasement
Published 10:58am Friday, June 17, 2011How odd for you to state in your recent editorial that “the media, which can make or break a successful reelection campaign” is aimed directly at our Senator Gretchen Hoffman.
Additionally, you seem to think that she must obey your demands that she grovel to a mean-spirited and vindictive Sen. Goodwin who does nothing but promote a hedonistic agenda aimed at demeaning our traditional cultural values.
Is this the same Fergus Falls Daily Journal which emailed the 2010 Hoffman Campaign that Gretchen Hoffman would only be interviewed if she called your offices and made an appointment, and present herself in your offices at your schedule for an audience with your editors?
Is this the same Fergus Falls Daily Journal that willingly assigned its reporters to cover her opponent at almost every event he attended?
Is this the same Fergus Falls Daily Journal which has misrepresented her efforts in the Senate to gain additional money for ‘per student funding’ to schools in her district as “cutting” funds for education?
Hoffman has succeeded despite The Daily Journal’s misrepresentations, to get increases in the hundreds of dollars per student, which DFL Governor Dayton vetoed.
It seems to me that you are saying that Hoffman better toe to your desires or you will be even more hostile to her than you have been in the past.
You are forgetting that Hoffman won a significant majority of the votes in winning the election because she promised to stand against many of the high taxing, big spending programs you constantly advocate.
In keeping her promise to us, Hoffman has been threatened with loss of her life, and bullied so badly by liberal groupies within the capitol halls that she has had to have capitol police escort her from her offices to committee hearings.
However, The Daily Journal is more concerned with some perceived insult to someone who does not even represent our district or our interests.
Maybe our community should be asking The Daily Journal what its interests and motivations represent?
Your demands of Hoffman ring pretty hollow compared to the violent mobs that we have all seen in Wisconsin who are desperate to keep their ‘entitlement snouts’ in the public trough.
You should be advocating for the protection of our senator not for her abasement.

Ms. Hoffman should stop tweeting until she understands the entire discussion, then these issues would not be a problem. Instead, she acts like a teen and tweets before she thinks. We should expect more from our elected officials.
Margie, has our sage Acker gone on holiday and designated you as the voice of the DFL to jump on every comment favorable to non DFlers? You have the advantage of being able to comment with wild conjecture, speculation, anent Senator Hoffman (you can’t bear to address her as Senator,
can you?) while the Senate has imposed gag rules on the parties to this incident, and the penalty for violating the gag rule can be another charge filed with the ethics committee. You know that she cannot yet speak in her own defense, and pile up the accusations, knowing she is not allowed to respond. We should expect more from school administrators who ought serve as role models for the young in your charge. And you ought to view the unedited, entire video of the incident, instead of the redacted and edited version sent out by the DFL.
I have now watched 4 different versions of the alleged incident. Sen. Hoffman still does not come off looking good. My entire point of view is not a liberal/conservative thing, it’s the fact that she felt she needed to tweet DURING a session, instead of actively listen. So nice, by the way, that her own party enacted the gag rule to cover it’s tracks. so aptly named is the “gag” rule……
