3 first half goals put 14U girls on losing end, 4-2 [UPDATED]

DETROIT LAKES — The Fergus Falls Cyclones 14U girls soccer team could not overcome 3 first half goals by Detroit Lakes in a 4-2 loss Tuesday.

Detroit Lakes jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over the Fergus 14U girls and took it into the break.

Fergus Falls were able to change their fortune in the second half as Kevy Konynenbelt scored off passes from Sophia Kuehl and Brittany Kollman at the 50 minute mark. Detroit Lakes was able to follow up with another goal at the 65 minute mark.

Kollman finished the scoring for the Cyclones as she scored on a penalty kick with a minute left to play.

Fergus Falls got some solid play from mid-fielders Hannah Baker and Ashley Vaughn, and full-back play by Hana Demartelaer.

Alicia Niblock was in goal for the Cyclones and picked up 9 saves in the game.
