This event will be part of Ashby Appreciation Days. A panel of three judges, along with audience voting, will choose the top six on July 15. Those six will move onto the final round of competition July 16 in the Ashby Park.
“The judges and audience will choose the top three winners,” said Martin. “Those top three winners will be asked to do an encore presentation at 3:30 p.m. in the park.”
Following the encore, first, second and third place will be announced and awarded cash prizes. The winners will be asked to ride on the Ashby float in the parade that evening at 7 p.m.
The Ashby Community Club will award cash of $300 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place.
Preregistration is required by Friday, July 8. Registration is available at City Hall and on the website: www.ashbyminnesota.org.
The event is a city of Ashby Arts Commission activity and is funded by the Minnesota arts and cultural heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature. Funding was approved by Minnesota voters on Nov. 4, 2008.
