Alleged hatchet attacker charged with burglary [UPDATED]Published 8:50am Tuesday, July 5, 2011 Updated 11:52am Tuesday, July 5, 2011
The Fergus Falls man who allegedly attacked another man with a hatchet was charged last week with second degree burglary.
Dustin Leroy Helps, 19, and three other men are accused of trying to steal firewood from the basement of a home at 24755 190th Ave., north of Fergus Falls. The other men, Darin Jon Rix, Christopher Daniel Yost and Joshua Jay Davis, have also been charged with second degree burglary.
Court records reported that a neighbor to the house called in to report that a strange truck was parked at the house. Upon arrival, a deputy allegedly found Helps and Rix. Rix allegedly admitted that he and the other three men had broken into the home’s basement to steal wood. When the deputy arrived, he had shouted for Yost and Davis to run away.Tags: burglary, Courts
