Zebra mussels topic of July COLA meeting
Published 11:38am Tuesday, July 12, 2011Mark Gaikowski with the USGS will speak about zebra mussel control at the Saturday, July 23, Otter Tail County COLA meeting.
The doors to the Community Center in Ottertail will open at 8:30 a.m. for socializing over a cup of coffee prior to the start of the meeting. The meeting starts at 9 a.m. All meetings are open to the public.
The U S Geological Survey, Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center, LaCrosse Wis., Field Office is one of the research centers conducting ecological research to support the Department of the Interior’s and other local/state/federal agencies management of our natural resources.
Gaikowski leads a research group that collects data that helps the FDA determine if an aquaculture drug is safe and effective.
If the state budget is resolved in time, Nathan Olson, the Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Specialist with the Department of Natural Resources Office in Fergus Falls, will also join on July 23 to speak about AIS and zebra mussels.
