Alcohol a factor in fatal crashPublished 11:05am Monday, July 18, 2011
A Motley man was killed Sunday morning in a rollover in the northeast corner of Otter Tail County.
Ty Bell, 18, died in the crash, while a 15-year-old New York Mills girl and Daniel Resch, 21, also of New York Mills, were injured. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.
The sheriff’s office reports that Resch was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt east on County Highway 8, near the intersection with 575th Avenue. At around 2:15 a.m., he lost control on a curve, causing the car to go off the left side of the road and roll several times before coming to rest against a tree.
Bell, a passenger, died of his injuries, while Resch and the teen were transported by ambulance to Perham Memorial Hospital. The case is still under investigation, but charges are expected. No arrests have been made.
The crash drew responders from six different emergency response teams in the county, Perham and New York Mills.Tags: accident, DWI, New York Mills
