Boat stolen on Otter Tail Lake

Published 6:03am Monday, July 25, 2011 Updated 6:04am Monday, July 25, 2011

A man’s boat was returned to him after an apparent joyride on Otter Tail Lake early Sunday morning.

The man reported around 2:15 a.m. that his boat had been taken. It had been parked at a dock at the man’s address of 36108 County Highway 72.

The keys had been left inside, and the rope connecting to boat to its dock had been cut. A roadside search did not reveal any boat matching the description out on the lake.

However, around 7:30 a.m., the boat washed up near shore at an address on Blarney Beach Road.

It was undamaged except for a scratch on the hull.

A cooler that the owner had used to store beer was found abandoned at a nearby roadway.

There are no suspects, but the owner did see a group of juveniles near the boat shortly before it was taken.
