The city of Ottertail invites everyone to their annual OtterFest celebration on August 12 and 13 in the downtown Ottertail park just one block off Main Street.warrant

The OtterFest celebration has a tradition of bringing fun to the Ottertail area for over 10 years. Taking place in mid-August, this is one of the last weekends for kids to have some summer fun before going back to school.

Kicking off this year’s OtterFest will be Otter Idol, now in its second year. This event will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Otter Supper Club.

Friday will feature the OtterFest demolition derby beginning at 7 p.m.

A variety of events will be held on Saturday including the parade, a car show, kids’ games and turtle races.

The OtterFest parade is at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by 12:30 p.m. turtle races in the park, 1 p.m. Bingo at the community center and horse and buggy rides all afternoon. Food booths to satisfy every craving are available throughout the day, and in case everyone isn’t stuffed by then there will be sweet corn and a hog roast from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Otter Idol finals will conclude Saturday’s festivities at 7 p.m. at the Otter Supper Club.
