Racing collection ransacked [UPDATED]

Published 9:53am Tuesday, August 9, 2011 Updated 11:55am Tuesday, August 9, 2011

It’s every collector’s nightmare: coming back to find your memorabilia gone.

That’s exactly what happened to a Dalton woman around 7:15 a.m. Monday, when she arrived at her trailer home at 106 Court Street to find that her collection of Dale Earnhardt memorabilia had been stolen.

The burglar or burglars likely broke into the trailer over the weekend. The sheriff’s office has not released the value of the items taken or whether any other items were taken, but the collection appeared to have held the crook’s interest, as the sheriff’s office reported that “a large amount” of it had been taken.

The case is still under investigation.
