Copper wire stolen from PR [UPDATED]

Published 11:05am Monday, August 22, 2011 Updated 12:16pm Monday, August 22, 2011

About $20,000 of copper wire was stolen from Arntson Electric in rural Pelican Rapids over the weekend, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office reported today.

The sheriff’s office was called to the business Saturday around 4 p.m. A burglar or burglars had gained access to a shop building at the site (23032 Lida Dr.) and stole at least 360 rolls of packaged and coiled wire, in 14.2, 12.2 and 12.3 gauges. The wire was for use in residential and commercial construction.

Most of the wire was still in its retail packaging, which split up each unit of wire into 250-foot rolls. The 12.3 gauge wire was on three larger spools.

Several other items of value in the business were untouched during the burglary. The sheriff’s office asks anyone with possible information on the crime to call 998-8555.
